Monitoring of municipal waste containers
In the city of Aguascalientes, Mexico, Sensor Monitor was installed in the different garbage containers in the metropolitan area to control collection routes. The devices operate on an LPWAN network, enabling the integration of high-cost sensors that incorporate a stand-alone battery life of up to 5 years.
The devices, in addition to container loading and unloading notification, have a temperature sensor that can detect vandalism due to fire. In this way, immediate actions could be taken to avoid accidents and damage to public infrastructure. All information is sent in real time to a monitoring center of the Public Services department where reports are analyzed and decisions are made. With the use of the container sensor, the Department of Public Services had reduced citizen complaints due to lack of collection service by 35% and has managed to significantly increase the efficiency of its staff.
